Abstract

The global market for boiler water treatment shows the greatest opportunity in Asia because of the large number of new power plants. Data from the U.S. Department of Energyﾒs Energy Information Administration (EIA) shows that power generation capacity in the Asia and Oceania region has grown from 6,770.259 billion kilowatt hours (BkWh) in 2008 to 8,409.494 BkWh in 2011 (1). Much of that increased generating capacity in Asia (including China) comes from new coal-fired plants. Other leading boiler water markets include North America, Europe, and Eurasia. This article will examine boiler water business opportunities with the primary emphasis being on the power industry.
