Materials
A New Standard on Thermoplastic Piping Systems
By Ted Hutton
ASME ASTM MATERIALS OF CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS THERMOPLASTICS
Abstract
Nonmetallic piping is being used in greater quantities than ever before in power, process, and water treatment plants due to the severe corrosive service most of these applications have associated with them. In addition, as the industry develops and expands, these materials are also being used in general public areas because of the cost, weight, and greater availability. However, current standards do not provide adequate rules to cover the service limitations, design, materials, fabrication, and installation, fusing/joining and quality of nonmetallic piping systems.
