Abstract
BWA Water Additives provides specialty chemical water treatment products aimed for use in industrial water, membrane and thermal desalination, oilfield, and other applications. The company traces its history back to 1973 when as a part of Ciba-Geigy Corp. the company introduced its first water treatment products. Ciba-Geigy later sold its flame retardants and water treatment chemicals businesses to FMC Corp. in 1992 as part of company reorganization. In turn, FMC sold its process additives business, which included water treatment chemicals, to Great Lakes Chemical Corp. in 1999. Then, in 2005, Great Lakes merged with Crompton Corp. and became Chemtura Corp. A year later, Chemtura divested what was then known as BioLab Water Additives to Close Brothers Private Equity and the business became known as BWA Water Additives. Finally, in 2008 BWA Water Additives was in turn sold to United International Bank B.S.C. (UIB), an investment bank based in Bahrain. UIB is now known as Seera Investment Bank.
