EPA Proposal Would Update Total Coliform Rule

Abstract
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a new proposed revised Total Coliform Rule (RTCR) that would be slated to take effect a final comment period that concludes Oct. 13. This article highlights some recommended changes in the proposed rule that would impact drinking water treatment and water treatment systems (WTSs). The rule would also impact industrial facilities that treat their own drinking water supplies instead of relying on an outside WTS.
