Part 1: Water Sector Outperforms Market Indices, but Still Affected by Economic Downturn
By Mike Henley
Abstract
In the midst of the current deep financial downturn, the water industryメs growth has also slowed. Two glimmers of hope are spending for infrastructure projects, and work to increase supplies in water-scarce regions, noted one of the speakers at the 2009 WATER EXECUTIVE Forum, which was conducted here March 30-31 at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel in Center City. The two-day meeting featured 21 speakers, and a panel discussion. Topics addressed included water markets, infrastructure, water reuse, nanotechnology in water, and industry trends. This article will review presentations on the water industry and developments in investment opportunities.
