Abstract
Reverse osmosis (RO) over the years has become an important water treatment technology that find use in a wide number of applications, including high-purity water treatment, industrial water, power generation, desalination, municipal water, industrial and municipal wastewater, and residential water systems. For water treatment, RO is considered one of the main technologies for making deionized water. Although it should be pointed out that current RO technologies by themselves are not capable of producing high-purity water to the purity level needed in the semiconductor industry, or for say a super critical boiler. To treat water to that level, a more sophisticated system is needed that will employ RO in conjunction with ion exchange, and/or electrodeionization.
