Abstract
AUSTIN—“Optimizing the Pharmaceutical Water System Life Cycle” was the theme of the 2016 UPW Pharma, conducted June 7-8 here at the Omni Hotel Southeast. In addressing the topic, conference speakers sought to offer practical approaches in different aspects of water treatment for pharmaceutical and life sciences facilities.
This year’s conference was co-located with UPW Micro and each event featured separate programs but shared exhibits, breaks and meals. New to this year’s conference was an off-site evening dinner that Tuesday evening sponsored by Nalco. The conference also offered exhibits by 35 conference sponsors in the Main and Sunroom exhibition areas.
In a new approach, this year’s UPW Pharma conference featured a workshop format with longer presentations to allow speakers time to cover topics in a more in-depth manner as well as the opportunity for audience questions and discussion. This article highlights the overall conference program, and a sidebar looks at presentations from Session 3. In the coming months, we plan to publish articles based on several conference presentations.
